Who is my Neighbour?

What a great question! Even though this very question, posed by the teacher of the law in Luke 10:29 had an ill motive, Jesus used it as an opportunity to teach one of the most widely known parables of all time — the Good Samaritan. In doing so, Jesus leads us to the conclusion that our neighbour is the one who is often most within our reach. Thus the reality is some of the greatest needs are right within arms reach, literally.

I just recently moved into a new community. As a result, I have been very cognizant of who my neighbours are. Today, on October 31, I had an opportunity to meet some of my new neighbours by taking a small Halloween treat bucket to their door. That small gesture was an opportunity to meet new people and who knows...maybe an opportunity down the road to meet a need.

Who is your neighbour? That smiling drive thru server who just served you your coffee? Or maybe that driver who cut you off today. Smiling or frowning, they have a need somewhere...and they are your neighbour.
